SEASON UPDATE--
April 06, 2020
Hello Central Track Athletes and Families,
I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe.
Apparel orders are finished. I will let you know when you are able to pick up your order.
As for the season I am still hopeful. The WIAA has not made any official announcement about Spring sports. Please keep a positive attitude and continue working out. Workouts have been posted on Google Classroom. If you have not joined, the code can be found in the previous post.
School will be back online starting Tuesday April 14. It is important that you contact your teachers with any questions or concerns involving academics. Be sure to complete the work that is given to you so you pass your courses and the semester. You will need to prepare yourself for time management and discipline yourself from easy distractions like cell phones, video games, netflix, ect.
Take care of yourself and look out for family members. Reach out to friends and make sure everyone is staying healthy!!

SEASON UPDATE -
March 24, 2020
Hello Central Track Athletes and Families. I think we all can agree that the 2020 track season has gotten off to an interesting start. I speak for all coaches when I say the energy that has surrounded the team is amazing! Hard work and a drive to get better to accomplish individual and team goals were just some of the many themes to our practices. Senior Class, you are leaders by example, which played a big role in establishing this years team identity.
As we move forward, it is important to continue workouts so we pickup where we left off when the season resumes. WIAA has not officially canceled and MVC directors have discussed continuation when school resumes.
ATHLETES - please join google classroom so you can stay up to date on your workouts and current news from coaches.

State Meet - Estimated running times - Friday
May 31, 2019
There is only one way to ensure you will see the athletes compete. Get there at 4:30 for the start of running events on Friday. I did a bit of "track math" for the pictured time schedule. This is an estimate only, but we are basing our initial warmup off this. We will be on site so we can adjust as needed. I hesitated to post this for fear that someone would take it as an absolute and miss a race, but I think it can be helpful.

Big Mac Eating Contest
March 23, 2019
The most important competition of the weekend occurred at the Durand McDonald's after the boy's meet at Stout. The challenge at hand was Big Macs. No rules were needed; it was just who can eat the most, there was no time limit. Coach Wilkinson, who seemed to be instigating the whole ordeal, narrowed the field to 2 serious and worthy contestants, Ahmad Jandal and Julian Goldstein. The contestants supplied their first sandwich while Coach Wilkinson provided the rest. Goldstein was out to an early lead and was the first to finish each of his four sandwiches. Jandal in true distance runner form had a solid and steady pace that toward the end seemed almost grueling. It did the job as he also put away four sandwiches. The competition did technically end in a draw at four sandwiches each although Goldstein got back in line to purchase a McFlurry.
Critics of Coach Wilkinson said he should have picked a more nutritious food challenge and set a better example. Not available for comment, a spokesperson for the Coach commented, "Do you know any high school athletes?, I want to see you get a celery eating competition going with this team. Who are these fun haters anyway?"
Upon completion of the event, Julian Goldstein said he "felt pretty good," and Ahmad Jandal stated, "I hope the bus ride isn't bumpy."

Sometime you have to force the track season to happen!
March 12, 2019
For practice on Tuesday the La Crosse Central track team, armed with shovels, completed a path around the track. It was a monumental effort to clear a path 1/4 mile long. Coach Wilkinson stated, "This was a great showing of team unity and proof of what can happen when we all work together." Most athletes were working too hard to offer a statement on the shoveling although a few overheard comments were, "I'm cold!", and "...you shovel for a while, you have just been standing there doing nothing!"
Exposing a few lanes of the black track along with the warming temperatures will be what it takes to get us outside. It is tough to be inside with other sports starting and gym space limited or non-existent. Just another spring in Wisconsin.
